Are we our mind? Are we our brain? Are we our thoughts?
Is our mind housed in our brain, or is it the brains talk, automatically thinking progressive thoughts? e.g. Im hungry, so I think about what I can eat….
Last week I was looking for a snow board for the ski season, I studied the different boards and their aspects, but I couldn’t make up my mind, that night I went to bed and dreamed all night about the different snow boards.
As I lay there I was getting really annoyed with my thinking, I wanted it to stop but it wouldn’t.
Our brain is a computer, a super computer, give it a task to do and it will take all relevant information, analyse it and give us a calculated answer. I had given it a task to workout the best snow board for me and it was computing an answer.
Albert Einstein said, I love to just sit back and watch my brain work it out. We are not our brain they are our tools for living in this body.
So is your mind you? are your thoughts you? the short answer is no!, and yes! When I was getting annoyed with my brain going over and over different snow boards I realised it was in conflict to me, so ‘I’ was not my thoughts. If you hopped inside a dogs body and had terrible urges and imaginations of sniffing lampposts would it be you? No, you would know that it was in conflict to you, you would know you don’t really want to sniff lampposts. Well you have hopped into the outer man who ‘was’ your old life and ways.
Paul said…. Rom 7:18-24 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me.
I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man, but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death?
So there are desires and thoughts that appear to be you but they are not, they are part of the automatic thinking machine that most think is them. Many people think they are the body, they have their identity in whether they are tall or short, fat or skinny, beautiful or ugly. Many have their identity in their thoughts and skills, they are mentally challenged or intelligent, they are skilled or unskilled, however these are just the outer man.
We are those who get out identity from the truth, the real truth which is established and settled forever, we are hidden in Christ, He is our life, we point to the inner man and say I am identical to Him, forever like Him.
So you are neither your thoughts or your body, but these things must be taken for you to be manifest or all people will see and smell of you is the degree of Christ vs MUD. When you walk only in the outer man you manifest the flesh, the untaken, the un-possessed, the un-renewed, ‘sin’.
However to the degree that you have taken is the degree that you default to, if you get weary and give up pressing forward you will default to the level of your outer man. This level changes the more you take the land (soul).
The default is the soul, wherever your soul is at, that is where you will default to, so if you let down your guard you will slide to the level of the outer man. If you get tricked into not walking in the spirit, get muddled, confused or discouraged or just plain loose your way, you backslide to the default.
However you will notice that if you do default, now you will only go back a couple of steps where as before you started getting this paradigm shift you would have gone back fifty steps. Its because the Holy Spirit has been quickening you.
I believe you are not your thoughts or your body, they ‘were’ you, but that living soul creation has been upgraded to a life giving spirit creation (1 Cor 15:45). You are no more those thoughts than if you were in a dogs body, however if you have not taken the promised land (promised? came to earth to get a soul?) then you will experience wrestling or defaulting to those thoughts.
What are our real thoughts? ‘the mind of Christ’ we need to take the land with out new mind, Christ, (we will grow up completely and become one with the head, that is, one with Christ. Eph 4:15)
So how hard is it to recode?
Our mind is physically mapped and hard coded within our brains.
To change your mind, how hard is it for the physical to change? How many synaptic nerve pathways have to change? Or do the synaptic pathways remain in the same place and only the data stored in the neurons change?
In this section we will explore the actual physical change within the brain.
Scientists say it takes forty days to change a habit, as habit is a highway of thinking in your mind. When we change our mind we get the road works team to come and dig up that highway and start laying a different route.
Jesus fasted for forty days, Moses went up the mountain for forty days twice, however I belief there is a quickening.
The bible says… But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you. Rom 8:11
When Lazarus was raised from the dead he needed a brand new brain so did Jesus, for it only takes 4 minutes without oxygen for the brain to be damaged and begin to die.
