What does a new, “born-again” life look like?
Is it something that is real or a figment of someone’s imagination?
So i got born-again, why do I feel like I am the same person I always was?
We live in this body, only aware of our desires and thoughts, which are also called heart and mind. We are only conscious of what we are conscious of. We can never be aware of anything other than that which we are aware of. Even subconscious knowledge has to come into our awareness for us to get a feeling, or a knowing, or a thought.
Many of us will not even know we are a new creation, we will know something has changed, we feel different and act different. We hate sin now and struggle against it, we use to be happy with it and enjoy it. We also love His word, we love Jesus., we love others. We can see there is something different, but its not as different as everything has become brand new.
So we know there is a spiritual change, but we think it is either because Christ came to live in us or because I have a new heart and a new spirit. The same me with a new heart and spirit.
However when Jesus came into us, (through inviting Him in), He translated us (our unique life) into Him, and now says have a go, run this life from inside me. When this happened we became literally born a second time as a new spirit with a new soul.
Why it might not feel that way to some, is because we live in a very loud, noisy, dominant body that is fully encoded physically with trillions of neurons. These neurons have recorded and stored all we have experienced since our body’s birth, these memories, knowledge and desires tell us who we are, where we fit in the world and how the world works etc.
In this body we are fully connected, fully plugged in, conscious of every desire, every decision, every attitude. So you may have missed the change that happened when Christ came in, however the bible is clear that you became brand new, all old things passed away, all that remains is your body and that will be changed another day.
The Bible says the new creation is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him who made it. Colossians 3:10.
Its by knowledge that you understand and catch up to the events that happened when Christ came in.
When Christ came into your life, He translated you into Him, another way of seeing it would be He stepped into your spirit and you became brand new. All that remained when He did this was your unique personality. You took on His life, His mind, His heart, His Spirit, His Nature. This is what it means to be hidden in Christ. The Bible says Christ is my life.
It pays to know that He is now our life and we are a perfect new creation in Him. If we keep the old identity we have always been, we will allow the old life to infiltrate, and merge with our new life, all its sin and all the old hassles, then we will expect less and fail more.
If we realize we are brand new, that we are as He is so are we, because He has translated us into His life. One spirit with Him (like I was grey now I am completely white), a new soul, but entering back into the old land like the Children of Israel did.
Being alert that we are one with Him enables us to fight the fight fully connected, fully righteous, fully perfect, fully secure, fully complete.
Which is a paradox, because in this body I am so conscious of this life, its desires, its weakness, its lack, its imperfection, its failing, its sin. Tiredness, hunger, lust, fear, boredom, pride, anger, etc..
These struggles we all experience, however knowledge of our new state inside of Him, will enable us to fight from within Him, with His life. If we lack this knowledge of the new life, we fight from within our old life, thinking all those struggles are us, that we are evil, broken, fallen, a fallen being under grace. Which sounds good to some but its not true.
We are born-again in Him, like Him, whether we believe it, experience it, perceive it or even doubt it. God is not wanting you to clean up your old life, He wants you to throw it off and walk in the newness of your new life.
There are two ways you can live, 1. Don’t change your identity, stay fully immersed in this old life encoded body, without understanding, accepting the evil desires you face as you. Or 2. change your understanding with the word of God, remember the new creation is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him who made it.
The aim of this life is to walk in the newness of life, which is to bring this consciousness into the truth. This is your battle, your task, to build a new understanding with the word of God. To learn to overcome… To wrestle and win. To take the land, to drive out the inhabitants. To make the outer-man Christlike. To learn about sin, His word, obedience, faith, trust, hope, love.
It becomes a much harder task if you are immersed in the old identity.
Of course when this understanding is able to transform your identity from sinner to saint, from dead to alive, from separated to immersed, from ugly to beautiful, from dirty to the righteousness of God in Christ, then all the Bible comes alive with “IN CHRIST”. And you begin to see from a whole new paradigm.
When you position your identity in Him, that He is your life, then you will realize you are not only like Him but you are a joint heir of His authority, power, resources, influence.
When you minister you speak and its final, you loosen and its loosen, you forbid, you cast out, drive out, release.
Here are some scriptures to ponder.
Galatians 2:20, It is no longer I who lives but Christ that lives, and the life I now live I live by faith in the son of God.
Galatians 3:27, For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Colossians.. 2:9, You are complete in Him.
3:3, For you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
3:4, When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall you also appear with him in glory.
3:10, And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him. Etc etc.
There are many many scriptures about being in Christ, only one thing is needed, for you to transition your identity from your old life to His life. You are in Him now, Like Him now, with His life, but you will only mentally live where your identity is. You are a perfect being inside an imperfect body, you are the righteousness of God in Christ, living inside an imperfect sinful body, that is encoded with sin. Half the winning is in understanding the truth. Awake from your old life, rise from the dead in Him, with His life, and the light will turn on. Here it is in scripture… Ephesians 5:14 Therefore he says, Awake you that sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light.
In living your life become aware you are brand new. You are complete and perfect in Him, you are a new creation living inside a body of death. Identify with the new life not the old life. Separate the old from the new. Correct your understanding of who you are now that He is in you. Remove the mud, don’t let the mud rule!
Know who you are now, because you are in Him and He is in you! Fight the good fight child of God, don’t be less than what you ought to be because you have believed wrongly about his amazing salvation.
